Physical systems / Flagship program

Project AMP: Advanced Manifold Platform

Project AMP is Nuera RDL’s flagship physical research program: one manifold system that brings pressure, flow, and structure together. It sits in Nuera RDL’s Physical Systems pillar.

Starting with irrigation

AMP’s first application is irrigation in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, where the lab is based. The program starts from three problems growers deal with every season:

  • Soil compaction. Concentrated drive loads compact soil and pore space beneath each pass.
  • Land lost to wheel tracks. Repeated tower paths create permanent corridors through production fields.
  • Uneven water delivery. Uneven distribution can over-apply water in some areas and under-apply it in others.

Program status

  • Stage: engineering and prototyping
  • Field validation: planned in the San Luis Valley
  • Intellectual property: U.S. patent application in preparation

Technical details will be published after the patent application is filed.

Get involved

We’d like to hear from growers and farm operators interested in hosting field trials, agricultural and engineering researchers, and funders supporting water and soil conservation.
